Senior officials from four U.S. financial regulators and the Bank of England convened on Sept. 3, 2026, for a tabletop exercise addressing issues related to the hypothetical resolution of central counterparties, or CCPs. The exercise included a review of information-sharing and communications arrangements designed to support financial stability if a CCP resolution occurs.
Participants represented the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Federal Reserve Board and Bank of England. The authorities described the session as part of a regular series of senior-level meetings held since 2017 to exchange views on CCP resolution and assess progress under their continuing joint work program.
During the meeting, officials reviewed recent work conducted jointly by the agencies, with particular attention to how the authorities would share information and communicate during a CCP resolution. The Sept. 11, 2026, joint readout did not identify a specific CCP, an actual resolution proceeding or any new regulatory action arising from the exercise.
Participants acknowledged the importance of maintaining dialogue between UK and U.S. authorities. They also supported continued sharing of analyses and discussion of policy formulation relating to CCP resolution.
